DOmain name question

I have an idea for a paysite and the dotcom domain name is already taken but the dontnet name is not. I was wondering what the boards feelings were in dotnet, dotus, etc etc were.
The dotcom name goes to a search engine and not a porn site.

The idea has been done before in one way or another but I cant find a site like this out there at least not one that deals with my idea specifically just in a general sense.

in MOST cases, you don't want to put too much effort in branding the .net name unless you don't mind the .com name picking up the extra traffic based off your efforts.

if you have icq, i wouldn't mind helping you find similiar names that might be just as good or better.

Thats what I was thinking. Like I said the dotcom goes to a search engine... somebody knew the value of the name. I have checked the variatiations but I dont see anything I really like (hyphens etc). It seems like all the good names are taken or at least the ones that are most likely to be typed in to the address bar. I am not in a position to start the site right now. I am still a very wet behind the ears but I was just wondering if I should get the dotnet name while it was still available and hold it until I was able to use it

Don't waste your $$'s unless your ready to run with it!! There are ton's of good domain names that come up each day. To give you an example of a couple that I saw come open today.

Thanks for all the input guys. I agree with what hardcorehosting said.... and I am not ready to run with it yet. I have an idea and a very specific type of domain name that I need to make it work (ie pussy.com vs felineloversoftheworld.com) It just doesn't work for me. This project is a few months away (at the least) and who knows the dotcom domain might be mine before it's over with anyway.

Of the ones I posted, only "clubsex69.com" and "pornjava.com" were of any interest simply because they seemed memorable. Still didn't arouse enough interest for me to register them though - didn't even check to see if they were still available

Of the ones you posted, "aaapornstars.com" and "fuckedpornstars.com" caught my eye immediately, but that's 'cos I'm working on a pornstar site at the moment

I regularly sift through deleted domain name databases, but rarely buy any. Those that I do buy I buy because they still have good link popularity with search engines, or because the name is very memorable.
