It's never gonna work...there are way too many egos in this business and as KimmyKim once pointed out "in this industry, we can't even get a group of webmasters who can agree on where to go to dinner"
there was that GIA thing which basically fizzled under the bulk of it's own bloated egos and all sorts of attempts before...everyone pays it lip service, but when it's time to step up to the plate, no one gives a fuck...
Has anyone even heard of this guy before? I don't think I've ever seen him post on a board or speak at a tradeshow....Comment

This is a new group, I posted the press release earlier this week.
The idea that it will "never work" is ridiculous. Every industry has trade/lobbying groups. It can work, and it will work eventually. The adult web is a new industry, but it will mature.
SykkBoy, you haven't seen egos or money unless you've worked in the mainstream entertainment industry. Adult is nothing compared to Hollywood and Manhattan.
The entertainment industry has plenty of these type of groups.

at this point, the idea is a joke imo. look at so called 'organizations' such as APIC. they are thugs for christ's sake.Originally posted by Mr.Fiction

i've have yet to see a single professional organization for the adult internet, other than maybe www.asacp.org.
related topic: does anyone remember that one adult online 'union' from many years past? if you joined them, you'd get better deals on bw, content etc - what were they called?we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

Are you a member of the Free Speech Coalition? They are an adult industry trade organization that accepts adult webmaster as well. They are active in lobbying at the state and national level, they work with free speech groups and lawyers all over the U.S., and they help out adult industry people who get into legal trouble. I've been a member for a while, been to some meetings, talked to some of the people who run the organization, and they seem legit to me.Originally posted by quiet

They are not a "webmaster" organization, though. They are an "adult industry" organization. I can't think of any web specific organizations that are well organized and well run right now. Maybe there aren't any yet. This is a brand new industry, less than 10 years old. Once things start to mature, I would either expect to see a number of groups form, or to see adult webmasters become more involved in the umbrella "adult industry" trade groups.Comment

yes, actually i am. bought a whole bunch of there t-shirts for everyone at last summer's internext.
The adult video, magazine, and store people can get their shit together better than the web people, but that's because they've been doing it for a long time. Give the webmasters time to mature.

Lawrence spoke in Montreal at CybernetExpo. I do not remember much about what he said because he and one of the other 2 attorneys bored me to sleep. What I do remember is that I did not get a good vibe off the guy. For all I know he is the best in his field though.Originally posted by SykkBoy2
