Hiring?

I want to get some experienced webmasters to reply on;

What suggestions would you give to someone (myself) who is considering hiring someone full time or whatever to handle some of the tasks associated with running a website program?

Honestly I am finding the time required in handling the day to day operations of the sites enormous now, and it takes me away from doing more productive stuff. I could probably make more, by delegating tasks.

The upside is making more money, the downside is exposing some of the tricks and techniques which I use, to make money, to another webmaster, and having them cut-and-run with them.

I have taken on a part-time helper, but her assistance is limited to all the other stuff: filing, bookkeeping, sending out license letters, running into town to deposit checks and mail product.

Do you already have someone doing all this ancillary stuff for you? If not, that's a good place to start.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion... the paperwork, does take a little time, my main portion of time is taken up by doing daily site updates and handling customer (website-member) requests, this takes the whole morning almost somedays... ad to that troubleshooting and that kills a whole morning and sometimes a whole day

Rip- I can totally relate I'm in the same kind of pain, and finding somebody is hard. I've been looking for somebody just part time for the last 3 weeks. If its not an issue with separating porn the lifestyle and porn the business they want unreasonable amount of money, or even better you just know they are going to take what you teach them and screw you. I've finally just brought in "the Bitch Boy" (my ex) he's a surf bum, so the hours are good, and well he does clean the house for me, including windows. LOL and he thinks 6 bucks an hour is good money, and if he doesn't do what he is told to I can call his mom. LMAO

Some "tricks" can be covered with a confidentiality agreement, it's something worth looking into if you're really concerned.

Hey guys, I have 3 girlfriends right now that have been in the business longer than I have, they each come with their own qualifications and are all equally intelligent...... they are all three looking for jobs in the industry......... they have all been in porn for quite sometime... if you need someone, give me a shout and maybe I can hook you up....

I must say I trust these three ladies with anything I have. They are not cruel or vindictive enough to ever rip you off, that I can almost promise you.

My helper is a girl who has modeled for me. By coincidence, she and her boyfriend moved into the next building. She is an epileptic and has not been able to hold down a regular job. Working for me turned out to be ideal for her because she has good days and bad days, and on the bad days she can't work, which has been the reason she hasn't been able to hold down jobs. As for me, as long as the work gets done within a reasonable period of time, I don't feel a need to crack the whip and hold her to a strict work schedule.

As a point of interest, she has gotten full disability from the government, which amazingly only allows her to earn $30 or less per month. At first, she said she didn't think she could work for me anymore, but I finally said, "You can't accept money. Okay, I'll pay you in stuff."

Every week we total up how much she's earned at $7.50/hr and I go out and buy her a gift certificate for a music store or a book store, for example. Then, she writes little reviews of everything she buys (on her own time) which I put together in a file for a little local entertainment and review site I'm working on as a way to turn my entertainment expenditures into business expenses. So, she works in my office, gets stuff she enjoys, and it becomes an expense for my entertainment site (not her labor, the items she buys).

Smart on one hand but on the other it's also a felony. I really hate to have to say that, since I know people on SSI have a hard time of it. (I know first hand, my old man broke his back before I met him and living on SSI-disability was really hard.) He got the top scale pay from them but it didn't go as far as it should have.

When he asked for re-training they stuck him in college and then when he needed a computer to try and keep up with the work it was a basic F you buddy. He snuck and worked as best he could for a whole summer to get enough to buy one. They found out and would have stuck him in jail but his disability worker lied and said she paid for it for him.

Buy the things yourself and skirt the issue legally. Take them home and then give them to her. Even that can be iffy if she has a nasty caseworker tho. We need better laws on that sort of thing!!
