    Question about WMV file format

Is there any way to edit down a WMV video clip? I bought an upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 thinking that it would allow me to do this, but unfortunately, it keeps wanting to convert the files to AVI and they become 3 times the size that they were before even though it is a shorter clip.

    Thanks,
    Bobbi B.

Read the instructions,, you just are not doing it rite. You have to export > Adobe Media Encoder.

Yep, that's what I mean. It is currently 115,446 KB and it is too big to upload to my site for some reason. Dreamweaver is not letting me.

Bobbi I guess your best bet to handle wmv would be your windows movie maker.

Yes, I have tried exporting but WMV is not an option that I am seeing.

I don't want the original quality back. I just want to make some short video clips of my cam show that my members can download from my website.

No original quality is not possible, but you can easily reencode it to avi format. AVI doesnt = good quailty either. There are some AVI that look far worse than some wmv's . Its all about the codec and settings.

It is there that is how we do all our movies.

You can cut it up in windows movie maker which is free. It is the only program I know of that works on files already in wmv format. The Premier export I believe only works for turning mpg and avi files into wmv.

Thanks! I might try that if I can't get Adobe Premiere 1.5 to work. It would be a shame spending $200 on that upgrade for nothing. Especially since I read up on it and I thought for sure that it could work with WMV files. I know it can import them. It's exporting them that I am having a problem with.

If you just want to split the wmv file into shorter length wmvs without re-editing them,, you can just use a shareware file splitter like Boilsoft's AVI/ MPEG/WMV Splitter.
