Flash is software for creating multimedia content and applications. In the past, it was not a strong tool for real-time Web communication ?- but now that's changed.
With the Flash Communication Server, developers like Reinhardt are creating Flash MX applications that let users talk and stream video of themselves, collaborate on documents in real time, chat and send multimedia instant messages. The new development and deployment platform comes with components that help Flash developers add those communication features.
He expects the communication product to be popular in several other areas including e-learning, job interviews, online dating and especially online porn.
"Any time you see a new technology, the first people to add to it is the porn industry -- especially anything with video and two-way communication," he said.
