Here is my break down between both EQ2 and WoW.
EQ2 - tons of depth. Very little hand holding. Graphics are top of the line and the game is quite well done. Large zones for less zoning than EQ1
WoW - Tons of Depth also. A lot more hand holding. Graphics are cartoony, which I personally think is pretty cool. hardly any zoning.
Overall I think both games are great. Not enough time for both. I kind of split time up. WoW is great if you only have an hour or two here or there to play. EQ2 requires a much larger time investment.blewit.com - Performance & Pleasure Training For Men. -

ahhh okayOriginally posted by NoCarrierWell, leveling on a MMORPG like everquest is like someone who think that reaching 1k, 2k, 10k, 20k, 50k on GFY is something magical.Comment

Those games take up too much time. It seems like it's only possible to be good at that if you are not interested in girls or making money. Showering eating and sleeping would be hard as well.
I learned my lesson with Age Of Empires back in '97. Everquest and WOW is 10X the commitment I'm guessing.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I agree, they are a waste of time, but alot of fun. I would say if your even considering one go with WOW, its not anywhere near the commitment of EQ. I play wow a few hours a week and im farther into the game than I ever would have been with the same time in EQ. and yes I shower, eat, make money, and get pussy, but im married so it comes with the territory. WoW is a good game to play casually, EQ is a lifestyle most cannot afford in any form. Just myOriginally posted by PornwolfThose games take up too much time. I was addicted to EQ1 for over 3 years .. I started playing it because some people at work played it. I never liked those type of games, but I instantly became hooked. I would come home from work, and play all night .. never spent any time with my girlfriend, and was the root of all fights for the entire period of time I played. It broke us up once for a few days, then eventually led to a huge fight and we were apart for over a month.
I realized what had happened, once it was too late and she was 500 miles away .. luckily I was able to change things after a month, we are now togerher for almost 7 years, and married for one, with a baby on the way.
If you have a life, a loved one, or a job to tend to .. don't do it. That's my advice

I've had it for 3 months... total time played 4 days and it was fucking great. But i'm bored of it now, it easily becomes repetitive.Comment

fun should not be work <--- about sums up EQ2. City of Heroes, on the other hand, is a lot more 'FUN', even though the 'level grind' is still there.Comment

I've played Eq since EQ1 now play EQ2.
The trick is to limit your time. I only play in the evenings about 4 hours a day.
Way to much things to do than just play ALL DAY ALL NIGHT...
If ya got control just play at times when ya would otherwise be watching TV.
Thats why I play EQ2. I hate television!

EQ series and FFXI are a huge time sink. If you want to play a mmo that is casual and requires less dedication go with WoW.
Problem with EQ2 and FFXI is that you need to spend hours working on your character, waiting to find a group to level up, etc. Then when you need to do certain quest, often you need MASS help and you'll need to spend countless hours trying to find help.
WoW is a lot more easygoing and allows you to have a life. But WoW is a pussyshit game compared to EQ2 and FFXI. If you are looking for a tough challenge and real dedication, by all means go with EQ2 or FFXI.Comment

Also FFXI is cool, look you can even have a FFXI branded epassporte! https://www.epassporte.com/secure/finalfantasy.cgiComment

You should check out Guild Wars. Its by ex-Blizzard designers who worked on Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft and all that good shit. Basically its like a MMORPG except you level faster, you can quickly travel between cities you've visited by clicking on a map, and there is a heavy focus on team player combat. If you like Diablo 2 you'll like this game.
And it looks really fucking good.Comment
