My first hypertext coding was done on the web's precursor: Gopher. Some old-timers on here may remember that. That'd have been when I was 10 or 11 (some 20 years ago or so now).
I also toyed with Hypercard, but macs kinda sucked back in the day and aside from an interesting medium for making stories and keeping notes, it never really amounted to much (in my experience, anyways... I'm told that it went places to people who remained in the mac realm).
My first website was when I was 13 (22 now), was hosted on Geocities and had shitloads of animated gifs.
I started doing web design for local businesses for money at 15.
Haha those were the days.
The "coolness" factor of your page was in direct relation to the amount of annoying animated GIFs you had on there.
I started with personal shit on Angelfire (back when they were cool) then started doing non-profit shit for my school and local charities & businesses. I think the first time I was paid for my services was when I was 13 or so when I made a page for some youth group. I think I got $120 or so for it. I was elated heh.
Fuck. Time flies by so fast.
My only regret was not staying with PHP when it first started becoming popular. I learned a good portion of it and then I stopped doing shit with it and started doing a lot of drugs and shit. I really regret not having a good grasp on the language now.
