HDV cams are out now but I doubt most content will not be shot on them for at least another year or 2. I have one and shooting everything on HDV and then downconverting to DV before I edit. The reason to shoot higher definition at this point is to be ready for the time when consumers will have the TVs to appreciate it. I also do everything in widescreen but still frame so it looks ok if I do a 4:3 center cut. This is how many TV shows are framed.

The Sony. Nobody took the JVC camera seriously because it was a one-chipper.

What sucks donkey balls is that the aftermarket batteries for the older Sony DV cameras don't work on the new HDV camera. So just another expense for anyone who bought those.

So far I am doing it in-camera. I have head some guys who use Vegas 5 say it does a better job than the camera does.

i think you could even run it through a proxy, while editing.. so you wouldn't have to re-edit once you would like to switch over to HD.

on another note, do you have any example HD footage from the sony? i'd love to see how it looks.

HD for consuper pc's is gonna take a while to take off and i can see it already alot of people bitching about why doesnt it play , it runs so slow..

mim requirements currently for playing back hd content is a pretty decent computer, average joe blow at home isnt gonna be able to play it back.. as always with new tech this will take a while so just take note of your planning on putting stuff like this on your site it could cause issues for alot of peeps.. those freaking cry babies

Yeah, wondering about that as well. I doubt anyone is shooting real HD porn at the moment though.. The cheapest full HD cameras are around 70k

Absolutly. Girls have to prep themselves before hand.

Razor burn for example really comes out which can be avoided.
Lighting is an entire new factor as well. It aint the same game as video, HD behaves very differently.

No, it is a DV cam. The reason I bring that up is because so many guys use the VX2100 and don't use any lights.
