Arles Image is one I've heard is decent, some people use it. Never installed it myself, although it's been sitting on my harddrive for a while now.

Sure it can! Arles has multi-folder processing. It's a fantastic tool, but it does have a bit of a learning curve. The support forums are a great resource - take a look and see how fast the developer replies to questions.

Damn! I cant get arles to work! It only makes 79 thumb, only one thumb for each subfolder and it places the thumbs in the root folder.

And ThumbsPlus creates the most ugly thumbs I've ever seen...

Well... if Arles doesn't work for you, you can probably use Photoshop, but its not that easy Seriously, Arles would be the best choice here.

I've been using this for YEARS. Easily my favorite program for this.

Heh, im such an idiot. I didnt see "Multi-folder Processing", I was playing around with "Add subcategories.."
