Vertical banners ?

I've noticied over the years that vertical banners have a much lower ctr than standard horizontal banners. Does anyone have any theories on why this is ?

On the contrary, i've noticed a higher CTR with vertical banners. I think the fact that they're not used anywhere near as often as regular banners means they're more eye catching.

It's important to place them properly though. I've seen some people do some very stupid stuff with vertial banners.

Text links definitely work the best for me. Vertical banners are okay tho. 468x60 definitely & totally suck, I simply skip the sponsors with 468x60 banners only.
