hosting questions 2 DNS servers/2 diff hosts

downtime has been a bit more then we want lately, most of the times not m3servers fault... so :

can we set a different DNS to another host in AU Europe or just another part of the US so when the first ones down, theyll get the 2nd one ? like a mirror...

and if so, does setting it like this mean 99% of the bandwidth will go to the first, so i could like get a virtual for the 2nd and use our 2 ded servers for the first ?

    like :

    dnsserverm3one.com
    dnsserverm3two.com
    dnsservervirtual.com

    thanks!!!

http://www.ZoneEdit.com has a feature called failover, where they have a process that fetches a copy of a page that you specify every few minutes, looking for a string of text. If it does not find it (e.g. server down) it will "fail over" to the backup IP that you have set up. Once it gets the string from your primary server again, it will fail back.

Costs about $20 a year. Good stuff.

Also, ZoneEdit lets you add non-US backup DNS servers which you can set up with your registrar.
