Warez Site Question

Do warez sites make money in this day and age? What are some legal issues with having a warez site that links to full programs, games, and cracks that are on other servers. Like a TGP except a WLP (warez link post).

Any information or links would be appreciated,

Warez will never be dead as long as Adobe keeps charging $650+ for their software, Microsoft $200+, Macromedia $500+, etc. etc. People are always looking for the cheap alternative.

If you host the files then you're certainly fucked, as far as just linking I'm not sure what can be done legally.. especially if you host overseas.

I was looking for more of an answer on the legal standpoint and how much money they actually make.

This is almost entirely true. A search for "photoshop cs" or any similar suite on Kazaa will return thousands of results for the full install + serial number. Why go to a popup/dialer/virus/sponsor-ridden site when it's available there and the rest of the popular filesharing networks?

That is somewhat true. There are other sources to download programs and cracks from other than websites crammed with dialers, popups, and virus's. However, there are other sources to download free porn as well and adult paysites are not dead.

Kazaa is starting to die out. I will not download it again since it adds to much spyware to the computer and the search results are starting to become inaccurate. I myself do not know any good alternatives to Kazaa except for those that must be paid for. I am always searching yahoo or google for FCKGW whenever I am reformatting a computer rather than hassling a friend or downloading kazaa. Astalavista is a mainstream warez site with a 7XXX alexa ranking. I am sure there are some other big ones that can still make big money.

If hosting downloads then it is almost definate for legal problems. But google links to warez sites so if a warez site links to downloads on other servers, what I am thinking the worst that could happen is they receive a letter to remove the link and if they don't they get sued.

This is what I am seeking to find out. The warez site is intentially posting links to downloads to programs, cracks, games, etc that are hosting on third party servers that are submitted by the warez sites end users in a submit a site style. They are reviewed by the admins and a text link to the program download is added to the warez website.

The vast majority of sponsors do not accept warez traffic because it is mostly password trading dishonest surfers with stolen credit cards.
