    PS2 error can't read CD

Anyone ever got that error message? When i'm playing grand theft auto 3 i get "can not read cd error" then the game just stops if i take the cd out and whipe it off sometimes it will start playing again but usally hangs up again.

Sometimes it screws up so bad when i'm playing i can't see the road the graphics get all messed up.

I don't wanna buy the thing again i almost have it beat!!

The CD might have one scratch on it but thats it i've rented games that where scratched to shit but still played. The other games i have play fine.

Thats one thing i hate about CDs and DVDs scratch them and they wont play.

One scratch is all thats needed, it depends on how deep the scratch is etc.

I had the same thing happen to me ...mine was the box itself.. Sony wanted 250 $$ to fix it with a warranty so I said fuck it and took mine a part its fixed now and haven't had a problem since.

I bought one of those fucking things about a week after they came out, and ever since the warranty finished up it's been nothing but problems. About a week ago the damned thing stopped working altogether. I've taken it apart several times and got it going again (it refuses to read DVDs mainly but games as well) but this time it looks like the end as it now won't read anything.

I went to some sites where people talk about problems and apparently there were a ton of them from the first batch that have the same issues mine does.

That's the last time I buy new gear the moment it hits the streets.

                  Grrrr...

Interestingly enough my son's PS2 won't play CD's or DVD's that are rated either explicit or above PG-13 -- anyone else ever heard of this?

You can change this in the settings...there is a password to change the "parental control level" or something like that... Mine had that too and I had forgot the password...turned out to be 12345...I just turned it off...but you can set it to whatever you want, depending on what age is your son ;)
