Tech Question???

Will the length of the phone cord affect the ability to download data on DSL? I can't get shit to download, plug-ins, content, programs, anything bigger than a page seems to freeze up...

Any Ideas?

DSL performance is directly affected by the distance, but unless you're talking about a half-kilometer cable, don't worry about that.

it will, but not to that extent. Maybe if the phone cord was 70 miles long.

possibly... it does add extra resistance to the line. I am not sure if it is enough to cause that big a problem

I don't know the length of your line, but mine is about thirty feet, and I don't have a problem.

I hear it affects it somewhat, but if you have good phone connections and you ain't got 20 feet or more of phone line, then you should be alright

I had the same problem, and a network card ended up being the problem.

Well, my cord is 50ft. I think I'm going to try a 25ft. and see if that fixes it. If not, maybe try a card.

try to rename the dll files to original if you have restore and/or reset your computer at some point.

Have the phone company check the outside line Wizzo. Alot of problems comes from that or possibly a bad line inside your place.

Usually the outside line checks are free but the inside one costs unless you can BS the repairman the right way. lol Only takes a min to run the resistance check. Could be your line from the wall to your system too.

We had probs and they ran tests alllll the way down the alley for about 1/4 mile until they found a bad connection. Once it was fixed all was fine.

Just curious if there are any cable providers by you guys?

Out here in ny once you go cable you cant do any dsl

I wish I could get cable, but the company that does the cable for my area doesn't offer it!
