    Hillary '08?

This has been speculated on for quite some time now. It was first put off as a right wing paranoia, but the idea is getting popular with others outside of the scope of right wing nuts. Personally, I think that Hillary is so thoroughly hated by her political opposition, that her run at the presidency would virtually guarantee a win for whoever she runs against. Also, if she won, she would be the most polarizing and ineffective president in recent American history.

For those who are thinking Bush has that award, I disagree. He is certainly polarizing, but he is anything but ineffective. How can he be ineffective when he owns congress and the supreme court?

in all seriousness if they run her in 08 they automatically lose. but right now their party is in some shape. there has been talk of running kerry again. but that is a doubtful. which leaves the dems in an akward position. if they do run hillary i don't think she will be expected to win, it's kind of be like a stalling tactic to give them 4 more years to get the party back together.

i'm also curious as to who the republicans will run? a mcain/juliani ticket would be a tough thing to run against. but who knows.

I'm thinking either Juliani/Rice or Schwarzenegger/Rice. The one ticket has 2 firsts, the second has 4. The dems will need a VERY sweet ticket to beat either of these.

i think arnold running for president is just fucking wrong. i really believe you should need to be born in america to run for pres here.

but whoever the republicans run, their options look good as of now. the dems are gonna have to change some of their platforms, restructure their party a little bit, and find some charisma along the way.

Arnold needs a Constitutional amendment to run . . . can't happen that quickly. 2012 at the earliest for him. However, if the Democrats run Hillary in '08 then that would mean the Republicans hold the White House until 2016. Then the likely candidate would be the VP that had been in for the past 8 years.

                          Maybe 2024 for Arnold.

Why? Almost every immigrant I've ever met is more dedicated to America as a great country and land of opportunity then almost every native born citizen I've ever met. Native born Americans take America for granted, immigrants don't.

The democrats don't seem to have much of a unifying ideology. That REALLY showed in this last election. The only thing Kerry had going for him was that he wasn't Bush. Other then that, NO ONE liked him and very few peoplel could accurately describe his stance on almost anything How many Kerry supporters thought he wanted to pull out of Iraq?

The democrats need to become less whiny and unify if they want to regain lost ground. I don't like democrats, but I dislike republicans just as much. If we're going to have these 2 loser parties in power, then let's keep the branches of government split between them so that no one has all the power, as is the case now.

Barack Obama = First Black President.

With either, Howard Dean, John Edwards, or possibly some other guy we have never heard of yet.

Hillary will be a no go, she cannot win. I also think it would be a horrific idea to even add her as a VP candidate. She will not pull in the women vote because most women hate her guts. I do however happen to think she would be a great President, but I do not see her being able to win.

Barack Obama will take this country by storm if he runs and no Republican will have a chance in hell to even come close.

I like Obama but he was just elected to his current position. Also, he needs more experience. We also have to face reality, that having a black pres won't happen right now. Down the road a minority or women will be president but not for the 08 election

Good point. Hillary is so polarizing, that those who love her really love her and those who hate her really hate her. The state I live in right now is very red. Her opposition here would be fierce, to say the least.

What's the fucking point of America wasting all the time and money on elections anymore? Privately owned, paperless electronic voting machines, riiiiight, that's real democracy at work. Just stop the charade and call yourselves a kleptocracy already, stop kidding yourselves.

I doubt it would be any higher than it is now. Historically women will not vote for other women. I don't know why that is, but it is. I read an article in ( I think ) Time a little while back that said around 65% of all married women vote republican. If the woman is married and is a stay at home mom/housewife that number jumps to almost 80%. The funny thing is the article then kind of slammed them saying married stay at home moms are out of touch with reality

The article also showed that around 30% of women just don't vote for a woman candidate simply because she is a woman. I don't know why that is. so to give hillary the woman vote by default I think is wrong.

as for hillary running, let's give bush a little time first. If bush does really well and is popular and has a high approval rating ( and the repubs can come up with a strong candidate ) they will be very hard to beat and the dems might put up another Dukakis kind of guy that is just out there to get his ass kicked.

If bush does badly and his approval ratings are not good then there is an opening. But for the dems to win they will need someone who has a clear vision, is likeable to the voters, is willing to stand up for themselves, is from the south, and represents a clear change.

history has shown that after 8 years of one party, people typically want a change. We had 12 years of repubs with regan and bush 1 then 8 years of dems with clinton. Clinton was popluar and had good approval ratings when he left the white house but that wasn't enough to get gore elected ( there are many reasons gore lost though )

SoI think it really hinges on how well bush does. A great job by bush could help them win another term. If he does okay, or badly, it will be hard for them to win again unless the dems put out someone really bad.

I can tell you right now, unless George is impeached or arrested, Jeb Bush will be running for President in 2008. If you think otherwise you really don't understand the Republican party, and who they're dominated by. McAain is (barely) hanging on so he can pick up the pieces of the party if the Bush's go down hard. They own Giuliani, I don't know if he's kissing ass for a spot as VP on the ticket or if they just have pictures of him sucking cock, but either way he's not going to be running for President. 6 of the past 7 US presidential tickets have contained a Bush, the only time in the past 25 years it hasn't was when they knew they couldn't win. Think that's a coincidence?
