    The Consistency Factor

Having been on the Net since the beginning, from what I've observed, I truly think one of the surest ways to find success is once you've got something that is really well laid out, don't touch it's look.

I was just at PersianKitty.com for example. Haven't been there for a long time and thought how cool that it still looks just like it did when it began. Same with TheHun.net. Same catchy colors and design.

Cheers! And when you hit a good one, keep it forever. Simple sells.

Consistency sells, been using the same formula for 3 years now and haven't changed one bit.

I agree. I like simple sites. Both to view and to create.

I think PayPal made a bad mistake with their new layout, those three images of happy handsome businessmen and pretty business women on their front page make them look like another marketing or hosting company using a free website template

being simple is always beautiful and a site with too much design looks complicated
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

I totally agree with that... I can think of other examples.

I think it might be different for paysites, though; updating the design while keeping the same colors, or vice-versa, can be refreshing...

Yes paysites need a flashy design. Girls scattered all over the page. As long as there is not cluttered banners, popups, upgrade promotions, and outside links spammed along the page

I agree, consistency is important and often crucial if something is working really well. Only change when it's not working anymore (example picposts seemed to have died so they probably should have changed into tgp's).
