I watched a documentary last night about the Falklands war.

Does anyone know why the British would travel across an Ocean to fight the Argentines over a tiny worthless piece of weather beaten land that has zero value (at least as far as I know it is valuless)?

Was it just British pride?

I think.....because it's belongs to them...

If I remember correctly it used to belong to Argentina, but the British took possesion of it at some point in time so when Argentina decided to take it back the British responded.

The Falklands is basically a wasteland. There are a few hardy people and some sheep and that is it. Really not worth fighting about.

I missed part of the documentary, but it will probably be shown again, at some point in time. Maybe the documentary has a reasonable explanation why the British were determined to keep possesion of the Falklands.
