If you plan on using your browser heavily stay away form FIREFOX - it's absolute piece of junk. Don't listen to all the retards that recommend it - they most probably siwtched yesterday form IE and of course to them FIREFOX is da shit. If you work with 10 or so tabs FIREFOX crashes, you try to change the setting while a page is loading - it crashes, try to open a .pdf file - it crashes. Leave it idle for more than 2 minutes - it fucking freezes.... So far K-Meleon is the best browser out there, not the perfect one, but deffinetly the best I've tried.

That's complete and utter BS. I'm using Firefox and Opera. Firefox hasn't crashed a single time. Opera occasionally, but I think because its got many more features built in.
You must have a messed up PC. Firefox is popular for a reason. Its fast, lean, and very stabile.

Nice one Antonio - I work on line 18 hours a day and I'm using Firefox on two PCs and a laptop and all of my computers are on 24/7 and connected to the net - Firefox has never crashed once and I've been using it like that for months.
It may not be working for you but for heavy duty users it works fine .

That sounds like a problem with your system and available resources.
I'd upgrade from the 486dx if I were you to a new box.
Firefox pre1.0 does have some issues in Linux that kept crashing it when opening new windows. However, 0.9.3 is still rocking (despite the supposed download problem) and kicks ass.

i have to disagree with you dude. it's either you are being fed with the wrong information and haven't tried even using the latest from Firefox.
never experienced any crashes even up to 50 tabs and even a PDF file.
surely its an hardware issue on your part but i have to definitely recommend the software and nothing else
