    Modem Speed?

Got a new router..it seems to be going pretty quick

    2004-10-05 22:14:51 EST: 523 / 580
Your download speed : 536493 bps, or 523 kbps.
    A 65.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 594916 bps, or 580 kbps.

    Is this O.K?

My ISP offers up to 5MB/sec. yet I only get around 2. They mentioned something about certain computers help faster connections but I didn't get the details.

It doesn't. The two exceptions would be
                                1) If you
had a simplex network card that could only
send or recieve at any given time as opposed
                                to uploading and downloading simultaneously.
                                That wouldn't make much difference.
The lights on your router may tell you if it's
                                connected as simplex or duplex.

                                2) If you had a super fast connection, over 50Mbs,
you'd want a fast bus mastering network card.
