Do any of you know of software that will convert data files into text files? In other words a file .dat into .txt

I don't mean to rename the extension. I mean to take a file that has been saved as a data file and convert it into a readable text file.Comment

I have done a search and I cannot find any software to covert .dat files into readable text, so I guess it doesn't exist.Comment

What kind of data is in the dat files? You can store anything in a dat file, including standard text.<a href="http://www.adultcontent.co.uk">Adult Content UK - Great British Content</a>Comment

Text is in the .dat files but int a word processor it does not come out as readable text.Comment
