It's terrific for chronic pain or after surgery, but there are so many people who get hooked to it, it's unbelievable. I swear, it's a worse problem than heroin. It's one of the rare drugs I wouldn't touch recreationally because of the sheer number of people I've seen who ended up hooked up on it. Of course, they all try to justify it a la Rush Limbaugh, "It's my bad back... I need it! Not my fault!"

What a fucking e-tard.
Oxy contin, the strongest pain killer - Administered with a 12-hour time release coating, because it's so powerful - Is now in the same league as skelaxin?

Originally posted by FrustrationZ OxyCottin is EXTREMLY addicting - it is pretty much synthetic herion.
His body is not going to be able to handle quitting. He is going to get SICK AS FUCK - Throwing up, hot/cold flashes, extremly emotional (crying a lot). His body is going to hurt really bad too, all of his joints/muscle's are gonna be very sore.
If he plans on quitting cold turkey - HE HAS TO SEE A DR. or he won't be able to handle it. It's just like herion, people can die from the withdrawls.
If he doesn't want to see a Dr. then slowly drop the doses he is taking over a 3-4 week period. (This method makes it a lot harder to quit)
I do not suggest having him drink coffee or pop energy pills.... if it was cocaine/meth maybe that would help I dunno ..
He is going to want to sleep a lot, let him! Don't give him coffee .. he just needs to eat and sleep... getting him wired through this process would only make it harder to sleep.
I know a lot of people addicted to pain killers and oxy cottin is by far the worst.
My friends little brother Over Dosed on oxy cottin (shooting it) and died.
Finally, someone who has a partial clue as to what he's talking about.
Oxycodone is the chemical behind the brand names OxyContin, Percocet, Endocet, Roxicet, etc. It's an opioid:
opioid
1. Any synthetic narcotic not derived from opium. 2. Indicating substances such as enkephalins or endorphins occurring naturally in the body that act on the brain to decrease the sensation of pain. http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/oxycontin.htm
There are worse things than oxycodone, and its alsot not "synthetic heroin" being that heroin(acetyl morphine) is a semi-synthetic opioid itself.
Fentanyl(propanamide) is many times more potent by weight than morphine and heroin. It is absorbable through many means including transdermal, oral, injection, breathing in gas, etc. It is this chemical the Russians used in aerosol gas form when that movie theater was taken hostage a year or 2 ago. It killed 2 hostages for every terrorist.
Originally posted by AVM I'd usually post some motivational info, etc - "Hey, he can do it because...", etc.
But on the real? Oxy is nothing to fuck with. People are getting hooked on Vicodin, Percocet, Valium, etc -- And are having hard times getting off. Oxy? The effects/addiction of Oxy is ten fold. It's the strongest pain killer on the market. You break that time release, and you're ingesting heroin. How do you kick heroin? Methadone. How do you kick hillbilly heroin (oxy)? Ain't no alternative, other then cold turkey - And that's not a reasonable task by any means.
It's not a mission impossible, just a mission improbable.

If you've ever taken a percocet you took the exact same thing with some tylenol and at a lower dose.
I had to post that...But more serious i am gonna take my friend to the doctor tomorrow...I will be driving over to my friends house in the morning to take them

Hey, I'm not a doctor but I stayed at the Holiday Day INN express last night.
That's what you sound like. Bro, you fucking skim RXList, paste excerpts, and now suddenly a medical specialist. I've taken this shit first hand, as a whole, chewed, and snorted. I know the addiction incurred with it's usage.
Personal experience overcomes and devours that of 'secondhand google searches', with modern day medical rhetoric/assumptions/scare tactics.

I'm sorry for posting empircal evidence and fact backed up by reputable sources. Perhaps I should go around spouting misinformation as you do that can be potentially hazardous to someone else.
Where did I ever claim to be a medical specialist?
Why do you assume I have no first hand knowledge of the subject? As a matter of fact I do have first, second and third hand knowledge on the subject.
The fact that you snorted a pressed pill meant for oral ingestion speaks volumes alone.
Please point out any:
rhetoric/assumptions/scare tactics
Thanks, and please stop poisoning people with misinformation. First hand knowledge of what a substance is like is no substitute for fact and evidence. It's supplemental and both should be taken into consideration. Also, personal attacks aren't needed. I'm sorry you were wrong and I was right, but thats just the way things go.

I can tell you right here that I'm not an expert, I'm not very old, and I have no tolerance for misinformation in regards to drugs. I have a lot of experience in reading, researching, and a lot of life experience with myself and friends. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have beyond that on icq. Keep in mind I'm going to bed soon as its after 7 am.

It isn't easy. My mom was addicted to MS Contin (similar but uses morphine) when she was terminal. She had to go off of it a couple of times and it was devestating for her. Odd that you brought this up because I was just looking for something in a drawer and it had about 200 of her MS Contin in it. I really should throw them away but I don't think the garbage is a good idea...would hate for an animal or something to come into some harm.
