I also use putty - but my penis remains soft and tender when using Unix

Sure, but who puts a single file in /home?

chown -R juicy:guido /home/gayporn

would give juicy and all members of guido ownership of the directory gayporn and everything in it - clearly making much more sense.

you can use one dot instead of two in the following command:

chown user.goup filename

no need : - it's enough one dot only.
