state workers abusing the elderly

I got a call from my brother last week, saying my dad is taking over all financial responsibility for his mom. He told me as he was going through her stacks of bills, figuring out what needs to be paid, one of the bills he found was for a car payment.

So he asks her where is the new car? She explained to her that her caretaker ( a state worker in Modesto, CA ) needed a co-signer to buy a new car. So state workers are now defrauding the elderly to buy new cars, apparently.

After a bit of research, we discovered that she was not a co-signer, but the actual owner of the car, and also the one responsible for the payments. My dad went over to the state worker's house ( who lives with her grandma ) and requested she hand over the car, which she did. She explained that she was a "victim of the car dealer" who made my grandma the owner, instead of the state worker. Bullshit!

Anyway this is kind of upsetting. My grandma does not want to report the crime because she is such good friends with the lady. My dad wants to respect his mom's wishes. It's all a sophisticated plan to become such good friends with someone, creating such a strong bond with your victim that crimes go unreported because of that level of friendship.

I'm considering reporting her myself.

Don't you guys ever watch 20/20? That shit has been going on since the first Convalescence House or Old Folk's Home was opened!!! There have been numerous accounts of mistreatment and theft going on for as long as I can remember.

I made a promise to my folks that I would never put them into one of those facilities! They will die living in my house, under my roof! It's the least I could do after all they've done for me.
