there needs to be a pin system in place. people would have more faith in online transactions if it was indeed setup to be secure. visa and mastercard just don't give a shit to get things going

exactly, PINs and TANs is what is needed. I predict the verified by VISA system will get exploited, like I said, the password in the wrong hands and the hacker can go crazy at ATM's.

... it has been a standart in germany for online transactions for almost 5 years. why is it so hard to get this shit working on the internet.

it will eliminate fraud, it will kill chargebacks (wasn't me is no longer an excuse) and it will make scrub lists a blast of the past.

Verified by Visa has been out for over a year and it has significantly cut down fraud.

When the VbV popup appears, there is a secret passphrase that is displayed which is only known to you and Visa. That is how you are guaranteed that the popup is from Visa.

... so what? not gonna stop someone to generate a fake joinform and pop a fake window. almost every surfer will be stupid enough to think it comes from VISA anyway.

creditcard details + pin/password = money out of ATMs. (verified by visa makes fraud even easier)

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why would someone make a fake VbV join form when they could just gather the CC info on the billing page? The VbV password has nothing to do with ATMs. It is only used on e-commerce sites that support VbV.
