DivX Browser Plugin - Try it out

This seems like something you guys might like to play with -

    http://trailers.divx.com/plugin/index.html

It is a beta demo of a DivX browser plugin.

There is more info at http://labs.divx.com

Try it out, play with the HTML. The plugin is controlled by a few simple Javascript functions, so it's very easy to develop for.

Loading it with Mozilla says "plugin not installed" but doesn't seem to have any download option...

With IE the page half loads and then blocks, like it's waiting for something.

      What am I doing wrong?...

Hmmm... not sure... Maybe it is just because I am at the office..

It should ask you if you want to install the plugin.. I will walk over and check with engineering.

Just thought I would add in some docs that some users have sent in...

First, Here is some API Documentation

Then, there are a couple of user submitted pages.

With play controls and seek bar

                With Open URL Option

Try clicking on 'Datei' and entering the URL for a DivX avi on this page. You can try http://showcase.divx.com/DJSpettro_F...nMind_DivX.avi

                Have fun!

That is quite nice. Any idea how big the Bourne Identity clip is? Just curious, I have a pretty fast connection, wondering if it's that smooth for average broadband.

The Bourne Clip is about 13MB. We just threw that one in so we would have a clip. It is not anything particularly special.

You can also use clips off your own server if you want to try it out on your own.

DivX is not asking for any licensing fees. Feel free to hit me up on IM if you have any questions.

@More Booze - what browser and OS are you on? This is decidedly beta, so the more info we get the better this little widget will get.

Thanks for everyone's input. And if you have anything you want to see added let us know. So far suggestions received are options for full screen and a download button.

Windows XP Professional Swedish 5.1 (build 2600 Service Pack 1)

I tried both IE and Firefox.
Firefox didnt do anything when I clicked the buttons.

I got this error with IE.

I tried it again, this time it worked in IE - after several seconds (maybe 15) a prompt popped up to install the plugin.

Mozilla loads the page but shows nothing useful. Clicking on the buttons doesn't do anything.

                                  I'm running Windows XP Home
