Hosted Galleries & Webmaster Ignorance

I post this because I caught myself being stupid enough to do what 90% of other paysite owners do with their galleries:

We should stop assuming that every surfer is stupid.
Let's not make it that easy for them to get 1000s of free pictures by increasing 1 simple number in the gallery url.

Increase profit - be & work smarter!

This is what I thought too and all my hosted galleries have names and not numbers

but when I brought this up elsewhere they told me that most surfers aren't that smart and if they are they'll look at all of your 20 or so galleries and get off for 2 or 3 days off your hosted galleries

In the end you are still just giving them 12-16 pictures out of large sets of pictures and if the guy likes the girl or site they will join.. Sometimes surfers need more then one gallery of a girl before they will join a site..

I doubt I will change my ways and number galleries anytime soon but I don't see it as bad as I use too

Yeah that's stupid and makes you loose lots of traffic, I got my galleries named /category_name/site_name/uniquename.html and I get lots of 403 traffic from people who try to play around with directories.

The whole point of TGP to begin with is to offer free samples to create emotional stimuli in the surfer resulting in a sale.

So I don't see why people get so bent up over how much free content is out there.

If I want to whack off to TGP porn I can. I can use google and sites like freeones to get as much free porn as I want.

Yet TGP traffic still converts.

So look at this way .. maybe one gallery doesn't do much for a surfer .. but he likes it enough to see if he can get more. So he'll do one of two things: 1) he'll go to a search engine or kazaa or whatever and try to find more of that series .. or 2) he'll look at the url and see if there's a 02 or 03 etc.

Maybe he likes 01 combined with 02 .. and says to himself "man .. this site has gotta rock! The chick in 01 was amazingly hot and so is this chick .. I'm gonna see how much the membership costs!" and he goes and signs up.

Or ... if he doesn't sign-up .. he'll eventually get a 404 .. and then we can filter the surfer more to feed our TGPs or what-not .. thus getting more traffic for our trades etc.

Cause it works.My 404/403 traffic is just from the guys who play with directories and filenames and they're most likely not to pay but to give their e-mail away for some free porn.Or they like the cams and sign up for free.
