I hared the same from lots of Russians who were in the USA. They say they never see such a shitload of crime like in LA or NY. Crack, murders, hold-ups and other violence everywhere? Various ethic gangs (black, Latin, Asian etc) make a real war on the US streets and no one can feel safe there. Fuck I'll never go to the states!Originally posted by P-K

Agree. Actually the average US citizen is dressed very cheap and simple (sometimes even tastelessly). On other hand, the average Russian citizen from a big city (Moscow, St. Peterberg etc) usually dressed much better. There actually 2 countries in the world where ppl give dressed well. They are Italy and Russia. However villagers in Russia don't pay any attention to their clothings (they dress like Americans). So I don't think some one will think you are American if you will be dressed bad. They just will think you are a villager.Originally posted by slavdogg

So how do Russians dress differently from Americans that make their wardrobe so classy and tasteful??Comment

Adult webmastering is not forbidden in Russia (there is no appropriate rule in Russian law). On the other hand, adult hosting and adult hardcore content producing is really considered as a crime.Originally posted by Orga

They just prefer to buy very expensive clothes mainly from Italy. This is not a joke but some kind of peculiarity. I'll try to explain. During the Soviet period (within about 70 years) Russian people were dressed like beggars, because there were no good-looking and quality wear in USSR, and the same problem with the import clothes. So now they are unconsciously trying to compensate their poverty for all those 70 years. I'm not joking man.Originally posted by phogirl69

However this related to ppl in big cities only. Village people are still prefer to buy low-quality Turkish and Chinese clothes. Most of them still are not able to buy a good-looking suit from Versache...Last edited by just a punk; 09-04-2004, 02:52 AM.Obey the CowgodComment

I'm not one of them though
(or so I'd like to think)
I just thought it was hilarious envisioning an American tourist visiting Russia and getting mistaken as a "poor" and tasteless villager...

This depends on what exactly city in Russia you are going to visit. For instance, Moscow is included in top 3 most expensive cities in the world (fyi: NY is not included even in top 10). Everything in Moscow is extremely expensive (taxi, hotels, restaurant and even hookers ;)) Sometimes 2-3 times more expensive than in NY. Say you'll pay $60-$80 for a taxi if you want to be delivered for an airport to some hotel in center of Moscow. That is a day-time price. The night-time price will be at least 2 times higher. Or another example. Two months ago I had a business lunch in one of Moscow Sushi bars (not cheapest but also not the most expensive one) with some German content provider who was living in NY for a long time. So he said me that in NY one can eat 3 times more Sushi for a same price. I don't know a price in Sushi bars of NY, but we spent about $100 for our 3-person lunch. Also do won't find any hotel in Moscow lover than $60-$70 per day for an extremely shitty one-room apartment. Normal apartments will cost for a few hundreds and up to few thousands of $ per day.Originally posted by phogirl69
