Tech PHP RCE Vulnerabilities and Mechbunny Tube Script Compatibility

As far as I know, the Mechbunny Tube Script is no longer being actively maintained. The latest version, 6.2.8, was released on March 29, 2021.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to run this version on PHP 8.3?

Given the security risks associated with outdated PHP versions, I would prefer not to have PHP 7.3 on my server, even with security patches applied.

Has anyone successfully managed to run Mechbunny Tube Script on PHP 8.3, or found a workaround that allows it to run on a modern, supported PHP version?

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Old scripts from that era usually die on PHP 8 because of the mysql/ereg leftovers and the constructors, and 8.3 also drops stuff 8.0 only warned about. What worked for me was keeping the old PHP in a container just for that vhost, with nginx in front. Patching the code by hand never ended.

It is doable. I spent way too much time and money over the years on a heavily modified MB site to just give up after MB support told me it was not possible. It took me about a week with Claude. File by file. Not fun. https://imgur.com/a/BWVlsGa
