Every 80 years like clockwork theres a big reset.. The last one was world war 2. Before that was the civil war... the next will be an Ai revolution and no ones gonna survive this shit.
AI scientist quits Anthropic and warns machines could kill us all by end of the decade
A prominent AI researcher at Anthropic has resigned, cautioning that industry leaders believe human lives are being "gambled" with.
Jacob Coxon, who conducted pretraining work at both OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT models, and Anthropic (Claude), stated that AI companies are "gambling with our lives."
He cautioned that rapidly advancing AI, fueled by intense competition, could become uncontrollable, potentially hacking computer systems while accumulating power and resources.
Coxon, a pretraining researcher who contributed to models such as GPT-4o, stepped down on September 9, 2026, and publicly declared that OpenAI and Anthropic are rushing toward self-improving superintelligence without adequate safeguards. He disclosed that developers privately worry AI could pose existential threats in the near future, a perspective shared by Anthropic's Evan Hubinger, who estimates the probability above 10% within the next decade and acknowledges they're failing to solve alignment challenges.
Writing on X, Coxon said: "I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives."
He went on: "Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing.
"The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger."
The most striking part isn't actually Jacob Coxon's resignation. It's this:
That's an extraordinary statement from someone whose job is specifically to work on the safety/alignment problem.
Anthropic's own Alignment Science Lead, Evan Hubinger, publicly said he personally puts the chance of AI killing all humans at greater than 10% within the next decade. He also said Anthropic does not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and isn't clearly on track to do so.
