    Illegal?

    For those of you who dont know, I am a college student right now. I have a government program that is paying for my books and shit but they didnt give me the check until yesterday, two weeks in to the semester, so I already bought all the books I needed and was planning on being reimburst by the check. I took the CASHIERS CHECK to the school book store and the manager told me he wasnt going to cash it unless i brought in my reciept, which I have but the prices arent going to match because I bought all used books but told the people who wrote the check new book prices just in case, so now I am stuck with a 500 dollar cashiers check.

    Isnt it illegal for them not to take a cashiers check?

    Im sorry everyone I am just really pissed and confused so if anyone has any advice/input please tell me something

              It is to the school bookstore and signed by someone else too so I cant. I fuckin wish I could though

                      write FOR DEPOSIT ONLY on it and deposit it. don't sign it. unless the check is stolen or forged you won't have a problem. i do this all of the time for my brothers social security check. deposit into an ATM will make it easier too.

                                                      I also talked to a 40ish lady that is in the same program and she said that she did the same thing that I did and they didnt even ask for a reciept they just cashed it. So basically because I am a male in my twenties they cant do it for me, I might be trying to pass off a fake check, Its bull shit and if it is grounds for a lawsuit I will file one even if I end up losing money just because of the princible.

                                                              I get the same amount of money whether I use it all on books or not so I am not getting more cash for lying, I am just getting some of it now, but yes it was a lie. On the other hand if I had waited till now to buy them they would have all been new because the used books have all been sold.
