Who else is sitting here trying to "pre-load" half-life 2?

I read about it a little on a forum earlier, but I can wait. I have it pre-ordered and will wait till ebgames ships it to me. They moved the release date back to Nov 1 or 2nd today but hopefully it goes gold any time.

ya, but you can't actually play it until a certain date can you? Or does the pre-load actually work?

they didn't give much info from what I was reading but apparently it's the bulk of the game, encrypted. I'm guessing there will be a smaller download when the game is released that installs those files...(guessing)

who knows, maybe someone will make an early crack

Pre-load is just basic stuff like sounds and textures. That way when the game is released it wont overload the Steam servers. I wouldn't pre-order this one, I'm betting that you'll be able to purchase it through Steam a week or so before it hits stores.

They are saying it won't need the best card to run, not like DOOM3 seems to be. I hope my 256meg card will run it with options turned up. IF not I'll turn some of the things down.

thinking the same thing... besides, this is going to be far bigger than doom3, no way I will find it in a shop in san diego

I went ahead and pre-ordered it like a week or so ago. Got it from ebgames when they were doing the free t-shirt off as well. Hopefully it comes out soon and I can waste some time playing.

Played counter-strike for the first time today is almost 6 months, was doing pretty good then a fucking hacker showed up and I rememberd why I stopped playing.
