Webmastering from China?

I might have to go back to shanghai, china for about 6 months. I plan to get a apt there and get cable/adsl.

I've heard that you can get cable/adsl pretty cheap in shanghai but I am not sure how restricted my internet access will be as that is my primary concern.

So i am wondering if anyone has ran their sites while they were in HK or china and would let me know their experiences, much appreciated

I know a couple guys and it can be done. But be prepared to learn all about proxies.

The biggest threat is that someone will see what you are up to and report you. If you are an USA citizen you probably won't be charged but they will deport and ban you without process and very quickly.

This is good advice. Don't tell even one person what you are doing. Did you say back to Shanghai? If you are dual Chinese/US Citizen I wouldn't risk it but if US only then it's possible.
