I have this weird thing going:

When I try to open a text file, notepad won't open.
I double click the file and nothing happens.

Same goes when I right click my mouse on a webpage and click view source. Notepad opens but no text is shown. empty.

If I open notepad, and click file>open, then I can open any file, but not otherwise..

anyone had this before? I'm lost for ideas..

Try to clear your cache. I've had that happen before where I can't view source and that was the fix.

Clear your temp internet files...

in IE (6) go to Tools-> Internet options and hit the delete files button, and tick the checkbox to delete all offline content...close all your browsers and there ya go..

There is a stupid virus that fucks up Media Player and Notepad. Better reinstall/replace notepad.exe

re-install notepad or use wordpad! If both doesnt work.. just download a simple TXT editor from download.com !

Same here ... I installed texpad (wich count lines ... easier to debug your html files too) . It's working way better
