There is no justification for purposely abusing, torturing or tormenting a helpless animal or child.

We as adult can rationialize events of war and rage againts other adults. Animals and children do not have these skills. Thats why many of us find this so distrubing.

I got to agree with you on this one. I do not wanna see the video or do i condone it being up on the site nor do i condone the killing of inocent animals or people. I dont know if its legal or not to have the video on the site or not. But if its legal to have it up there and Rick stands behind his Discussion to keep it up i respect him for that. I just choose not to go to his site.

But this is the way I see it.

Although we don't agree with it, there was a greater purpose behind the beheading. There was a goal intended, a goal that was very important to the people doing it and the people they represent. Some may argue the beheading was justified, or at least warranted.

The cat being burned has no greater meaning, purpose, justification, reason, etc. The idiots did it for fun, out of cruelty, and probably only to get on to CJ.

Replace the cat in the video by an innocent human being burned alive for no other reason but amusement and I'd still find it more disgusting then the beheading. Even if the guy didn't die.

For me, it's not cat vs human. It's the motives behind the videos that decide my reaction.

As far as all the vegetarian issues go in this thread, I'm a vegetarian and there's scientific proof that vegetarians are more likely to live longer and less likely to develop heart disease. Meat has a lot of fat in it as apposed to other sources of protein. And as for the alternate sources of protein being bad for animals as well, it's all about picking the companies that don't abuse animals. Also, the whole carbs debate is stupid. It's not about carbs vs no carbs, it's about getting the right kind of carbs, ie the ones that aren't overly processed (think wheat bread instead of white). And good carbs are necesary for fiber and to keep your blood sugar at the right level to support brain activity. You can get glucose from protein, but the process required to do so also creates a lot of toxins as biproducts, and in large ammounts are bad for you...

Sorry for the nutrition lesson, but if you are all gonna come on here and fight about it, I figured I'd at least share what being a biopsych major and taking university nutrition classes has taught me.

Pets and children require our protection, and they trust us to provide it. For an aware adult to willingly and maliciously betray that trust is about the lowest, most depraved thing they can do.

To video tape it and present it as entertainment, well, that's culture for you. For some reason we are fascinated by depravity.

I don't know if it's right to make money off such a video. If people didn't approve, then they wouldn't watch it and they wouldn't go back to the site that served it. So it would no longer be good business sense to post such material. However, I don't see that happening. There is a market for that stuff.

Maybe parents should watch a little closer what their kids are looking at online, because no adult would mimic that act just because they saw it in a video. And that is back to the protection issue.
