Target New

Do you guys usually put links out to a sponsor with "target new" tags or not. I am doing some testing and wondering if it is better to keep your site in the background for surfers to return to or not.

Right now I do it selectively depending on the extent of pop ups that a sponsor launches... hmmm

ahhh it depends... if the links to the sponsor are on a console/pop-up page then of course "target _new", if it's on a regular page then it's a no-no because:

You do NOT want the surfer to come BACK to your site once he leaves it. You want him to SIGN UP with the sponsor. So make him horny and desperate and send him to the sponsor. The console guy on the other hand had already closed my site, so it's OK that sponsor is in a new window... he's not that likely to buy anyway, better give him variety.

apparently some sponsors won't track reffering urls if you pop there site in a new window - had to learn that one the hard way...
