So bluedomino is telling me that I have to renew an expired domain name with them for $15 before they will release it for transfer. Is this right?

If it's expired and not deleted (i.e. not publically available yet), I think that is right.Originally posted by DirkPitt

Yeah it's expired but not deleted yet. This is what their live chat host is saying. I never heard of this before so I figured I?d ask the board and see if anyone knew for sure.Originally posted by ModelPerfect

here is part of a FAQ from DirectNic.com
This statement is listed under "How do I transfer my domain names to directNIC from another registrar?"
3. The expiration date: Expired domains cannot be transferred. We strongly recommend you transfer your domain at least 30 days before it expires.
I think most registers let you transfer a domain 7 days before it expires and after 7 days you can't.Comment

I wouldn't trust that statement with NetSol. They refused my transfer at just under 30 days before expiration.Originally posted by thumbsdepot

It's always like this:
Domain expires
------------>
Redemtion Period (Grace period, domain is still yours but unavailable on the web, not transferable. This can last for several months, depends on the registrar, some even wait like half a year)
------------>
Pending Delete (a few days before it's deleted, it can still be renewed at this time, last chance before it's lost)
------------>
Deletion (free for all to register)Comment
