2.50 was the base rate per gig! and 4 was the overage.... jesus..... I only ever had small sites on their and never went over, but they started to grow and bamn, I got smacked hardComment

I'm on bluegravity.com and Paying 2.5 GB
but they told me prices will lower soon.
I'm getting pissed off cause i know damn well other places are cheaper and have the same uptime.
If i can't get 1.5 - 2 per GB then I'll need to find someone else. Wish I didn't need to move, but I simply can't stay with a company over-charging me.
What is the highest price per GB that is still within reason to pay?

been a lurker for quite some time, but decided it was time to come out and join the fun.
this is so funny because the same thing happened to me with webair. when i initially signed my contract, a couple years ago, i was locked in at a $5 dollar per gig overage. so when my contract ended i didn't care to renogociate it, and sure enough last month, i was 106 gig over (or so they claimed).
to make a long story short, i am dealing with travis @ candid hosting to move all my stuff over by the end of the week. candid hosting can hook you up for about $1.50 a gig overage with a one year contract. get a couple boxes there, one for traffic, one for content and you're ready to rock. my 2 cents

You guys do realize that $1.50/Gig is roughly $300-$480 a Megabit right?
Take Cogent for example. Your bandwidth cost is from $10/Mbps - $30/Mbps depending if you go with a 100/Mbps line or the Gigabit. That's a huge drop in overhead. If your worried about Cogent downtime then make sure the host is multihomed with a Tier 1 provider like Verio, Level3 or Above.net. If you're a smart webmaster you'd be interested in lowering your overhead to increase your profit margin.
Keep in mind that a hosts cost is not just it's bandwidth but the rent for the facility, rackspace, power, staff, office, routers (for the leet hosts), switches and new servers.CelebPay: Promote Celebrity Reviews

Both prices are overages.
Both are awesome hosts. I use ISPrime for pic galleries and Cologroup for movie galleries. I've never seen them down!

These were just small sites, pushed less then 200 gigs a month, they just grew too fast, traffic to them trippled in under 10 daysComment

PipeCrew, if you ICQ me, I can get you some good pricing. If you don't want Cogent, I can set you up with a mutli-homed service using Level3, Genuity, Verio, and Cogent. It picks the best route.
