Help! Permissions problems with image files

I've never had a problem like this before. One of the girls whose site I run sent me her latest batch of photosets. I usually need to edit them in photoshop. Unfortunately, I am unable to save any of the changes made to any of these images. I keep getting a message saying that the files are locked.

I use a mac. So I go to file>get info and try to unlock them. I set all the permissions to 'read AND write' and make sure that the 'locked' box is unchecked for each file. But I still can't save them -- in any application (photoshop, fireworks). Any suggestions???

hmm ive had that problem, but on a windoze

they were read only, so just unchecked them

can you at least copy them in 'windows explorer' however you call that in mac and try to work with copies?
can't think of anything else.

I tried copying them into another file but the copy seems to bring the original permissions with it. In other words, it don't work!

I've done everything I can on my end. I've unlocked the files and changed all the file permissions to read and write. But none of my image applications will save them (photoshop, fireworks, iphoto, etc... ). Now I am gonna have pissed off members and, most probably, a pissed off model.

the only time i encountered this problem when harddrive or floppy was out of free space, that was long time ago, i almost forgot about it.

the file is ok, must be some miscellaneous thing you forgetting in the mac. how is your disk space?

Hmmm! I downloaded your file and was able to edit and save it. What did you do to the file, besides making it B&W?

This is fucking weird. If I post the image on GFY and then download it, I can then save the new file (i.e., the permissions are gone). Unfortunately, I can't get the same result by loading the file in my browser directly from the harddrive and then saving it. So, I guess I'm gonna have to post all my photosets on GFY.
