    Good experience.

Owned by http://www.theplanet.com. I've got a servermatrix box and a total control server. Both rock solid.

        Very good value

I've had my box there for 95 days, 95 day uptime.

Whenever I send support a ticket they do it within 10 mins (always just been to add new domain into the dns servers).

They are good for you if you can manage your own server
I never had any problems with them, support is good. You can call their tech support and usually get someone on the phone who knows their shit. If they're not too busy they'll help you right there, otherwise you open a ticket. Help desk time ranges from 2 minutes to 2 days, with an average of 10 hours.
They've got a very nice special now btw.
As far as reseller, I don't know any...

they are good people, you get what you are paying for though, support can be slow compared to other providers, and if you want to upgrade your box a bit you will start to see a higher cost, eg they only have a 10mb card as standard.

their network is pretty good but i dont get very good speeds from where i am, i have a 1.5mb adsl connection and if i am the only user downloading from an SM box i cant even use 2/3 of my connection.

apart from that, they are pretty good

I have a nice server with their parent company, http://www.theplanet.com - good company, great prices, and excellent uptime.

It does help to be able to admin your own boxes a little.

What is involved in admin'ing your own server? Also, what kind of box would you get for a new tgp? Is that $69 deal a good start?
Sig is on vacation... (I wish I could vacation as long as my sig has...)

You need to be able to configure Apache from scratch... as well as your own mail server (sendmail, postfix, qmail etc.) if you need that. FTP server as well.

With a fresh dedicated box you get a machine that's up and running with SSH so you can login and do what you need.

Apache is usually installed. As well as any other stuff like MySQL if you request it. But they're not configured or running.

Nobody can beat theplanet's uptime/quality. There is no support but your box WILL be online all the time. I own a nice number of servers there and I'm happy.

Is there anyone that will do an initial setup of the box? I am not the most proficient person in Linux. Also, after the initial configuration, what else will need to be done as far as regular maintenence? Do I need a dedicated box when I am just starting? Can i get a hosting package from anywhere that will serve my needs?

I am very happy with Server Matrix... been going on two or three months with them now... They answer their phones very promptly.. second ring I think... Never heard of that anywhere...

Both SM and the planet have great prices and servers...

If you need a server admin let me recommend Steve at www.rack911.com He took care of me last weekend and now my SM server is running way better then it was.
