one thing i noticed is that all the good names are taken today....just yesterday they were all available...i think GFY board members registered all of them..LOL!

well, those are simply ignored. its actually easier to weed out the idiots and crap with this then icq!
no need to have to authorize or anything!
saving me time already and ive already landed work through it. everyday i have to auth people on icq, this thing allows the goofballs to post crap, which since its not a chatroom disappears as soon as they leave, and allows me to weed through it without even having to click anything. its lik e a ticker

one thing that is being looked over too
when users click this button from sites, it carries the referrer.
so technically, i could link it in a thread about "A Banner Special" and even before chatting click the name and have the thread come up to see what they are hitting me up about before even chatting.
with auctions, same thing, you can see what auction tyey clicking about.
this thing is cool.
as i said, ive ALREADY made more money today than i might have because of it.
someone hit me up and instead of having to email me, was able to click in, and chat with me real quick.
i see this thing as kinda like a "Live Help" or Help Desk feature, not really for covnersations you need history for, but great for quick business chat or support type stuff

It's the "beanie babies" of the internet/chat world. Really cute and appealing, and the people going nuts over it are convinced they'll be able to hoard them and make big bucks off it. In reality, they're worth nothing.
I've registered about 6,258 names, btw. I can't stop.
I will sell all these names for $100.00 US cash check or money order? They will be worth millions in a few months. Get in on this ground floor opp!!!!!!!!
now I just have to go get all of my other ones installed on my pages....
A question though are you guys going to be putting them on your pages where "surfers" can get in touch with you? It could be a novel idea and make your sites a bit more personal if the surfer can talk to the creator of the site they're visiting...

Originally posted by TexasGuy As of today, no one uses ********. And that is the way it will be for a couple of years. Therefore I see no real market for "******** names".
Ok, I have been playing with this thing for awhile now and have some comments.
First off, please stop comparing it to ICQ. It's not ICQ, nor is it meant to be. This little handy tool does a few cool things.
One it carries referrers on the message senders name. Which means if I post a link to message me on an auction for "Elvis Box Set" or I post a link to message me in a thread regarding a "Weekend Special on Banners" I can see what the topic is before even talking to them and have a url to refer to. That's very handy.
Also, not everyone uses AIM and ICQ, and having all of those on all day or trying to run a third party program like Trillian is simply aggrivating. This chat and message center opens in any browser and allow quick and painless chat without having to either launch ICQ or AIM, and deal with authorizations, and the time consuming deal of scrolling through hundreds of names in either one's buddy list feature.
