Is ServerMatrix.com any good?

ServerMatrix are good if you know how to manage a server, they don't provide support, it's a non-managed service.

There is a $299 setup fee for that machine in order to pay $149 per month, so if you're thinking long term that's definately a good deal.

yeah if you want to pay 150 for them to install FTP o you can ftp your box sure its great.

they advertised some deal here, I bit.

Great price but when I tried to FTP the server they told me I had to pay 150 to have FTp installed.

I canceleed immediately.

After 2 months and the money I put into getting more dedicated with them I cancelled it all and stuck with webair.

no fucking way it costs 150 to install FTP.

exactly, you need to know how to setup & manage your box yourself, otherwise definately not recommended

why even advertise dedicated servers for 75$ and keep the $150 for FTp install a secret??

In the end they took my money and I got shit. 2months with a dedicated server I couldnt use.

Not a cool way to do business.

I have a server with them and it's great. They do offer support for your server through their Orbit Ticket system. If you ask a simple question like "why is my server down" they'll inform you what's wrong and how do go about fixing it.

It's a good deal if you're willing to get support from someone else. I have several clients who I manage servermatrix boxes for. If you need something installed or upgraded, look around for someone else to do it. I personally do an hour of server admin work for $50 and I am sure there are people willing to do it for less.

Brilliant host at excellent prices: even when I add in $50 a month for server admin. 6 months with them so far and not the smallest hiccup.

And FletchXXX, I'm surprised at your FTP problems. The first thing I did was have someone optimize and secure my server, but even before they went in, everything was working: FTP included.

I didnt have "problems: - I was lured in with get 1000 gigs for 75$ per dedicated.

After I paid, and got login info etc was told it was $150 to install FTP ;) I did not feel like dropping that on a dedicated with some company I do not know while I have dedicated with Webair. SO I cancelled it, and they took the money and I never used the server.

Had some starting up problems but now with the help of a 3rd party server admin im really happy with them. I use them for tgping only, all my other sites that work with scripts and stuff are hosted somewhere else because i often need support for those site.. www.energyhosting.com

109 gets you a 2.8ghz p4 /w 512mb 80gb hd and 500GB of bandwidth/month.
