    camera guys

anyone know anything about this company? http://www.amphotoworld.com I bought a digital photographer magazine and noticed a few companies advertising cannon 10d's for right around $1k new.. They also have the 300d (rebel) for around $600... both are $500 cheaper than I've seen anywhere else.. what's the catch anyone know?

I wouldn't think they would be a scam as they have a full page add in a popular magazine. Anyone ever bought from them?

Yea, there really have great prices...
It doesn't say what the shipping and handling rates are though, so probably ask them ahead of time to avoid be charged $50 for s/h....

humm maybe not I did a search on "amphotoworld" and got a lot of bad reviews on their service, they seem to be a bait and switch company.

I'll tell you what the catch is and I know this because they tried to pull this shit with me when I bought my dimage online with a similar company.

you place your order on the website and then the next day you get a phone call and the rep tells you the camera you ordered is the overseas version and it will take a little over 2 months to get the overseas version of your camera. HOWEVER, if your willing to pay just $200.00 more then you can get the american version now....something along those lines.

www.digitalliquidators.com is the company that did that to me so beware, these guys and others like them are scam artists. They quote you a cheap price on a camera but when you place the order they pull the old bait and switch.

Dont get me wrong, I love my camera, and the quality on it is excellent, but it wasnt the deal I was promised when purchasing it online. They waited till I had paid with my credit card and I had also purchased overnight shipping for it and it was around $500.00 then they call me and say oh you did purchase that, but its the overseas model if you would like it sooner than 2 months from now you will have to buy the american model in stock now for only $200 more. Thats the catch so beware, they will take your money with no notice of this whatsoever.

yea I think I'll stay away from them, I didn't think to search for their name on the reviews sites.. But looks like they are 100% scam.. I think I'm going to write the digital photo mag and file a complaint with them on this advertiser, probably wouldn't do a bit of good but it's worth a try.

Good work - sad cause I would consider buying from them based on those prices. But since I read your research, I'll never shop with them. I'll continue to use B & H Photo out of NY for my stuff. Decent prices and best service around

No fucking way can this be legit. They have a Mini DV on there that should be $999 at its lowest retail price and $750 at the lowest net price I've found anywhere and its only $659.00 on this site.

                      I smell bullshit.

Margins on electronics are thin but no one could operate at these prices unless the goods fell off the back of the truck at a warehouse.

nyc camera merchants are mostly bad with the exception of B&H.

Canon 10D's are going down in price right now. As far as I am concerned they are the ultimate digital camera as far as image quality goes.

I just got one couple weeks back and took these shots last time in Vancouver:
