Sometimes I hate being a proofreader

Now I'm not talking about folks who aren't from a native-English-speaking country. I'm talking about people who are just too damn lazy to spell out a word.

I'm doing a favor for a friend, and I'm going to lynch her. DO NOT WRITE YOUR THESIS IN l337 sp34k!

I should charge her $100/hr for this shit.

No, this isn't writing like she talks. This is pure "I'm too lazy/in a hurry to do this correctly so I'll let you deal with it since your'e the proofreader."

its a diff. time 4 humans and many never thought about the consequences. capital punish. laws being made have no more effect than those that came b4, and by making new laws, the us gov. only causes conflict and confusion.

Granted, that's no where near the worst of it, but that's the passage I'm working on now.

Sometimes I wonder if kids these days know how to write at all. Because of stuff like this, some colleges in Tennessee make you pass a writing test, (penmanship/spelling), before you can graduate.

Charge her extra.. thats bullshit.. she would never hand in a paper like that to the professor/teacher...I didnt know that proofreading actually involved having to rewrite the whole damn thing...lazy asses.

Nah, it's okay. I'm in my "don't pick it up; the housekeeper will do it" stage, because that was her payment arrangement. She's gonna clean my house from attic to floorboards.

That's the stuff right there! hahah I just ended up cleaning my friend's entire kitchen and dining room from top to bottom, including the stuck-on 7up off the linoleum floor in exchange for piano lessons. That was a good 3 hours of work right there.

Seriously, I don't think they *can* write coherently. They are still victims of the "just get it on paper, and fix it later" feel-good teaching philosophy that I saw the start of. Except they never do learn the nitty gritty details of how to fix it. And never practicing means never learning.

Kinda sucks when you know if you handed in the paper before you proofread it, the person would get a C-, but after the proofreading, it's most likely a B or A paper. *sigh*
