Question 4 Search Engine Gurus?

I've heard a lot of bad things about submission software not being effective. Is it worth spending the money on submission software and if so which one is the best value for your money? Also, does anyone recommend manual submissions over software submissions and what are some of the better engines to manually submit to? Any search engine tips you may have would be appreciated! Ok,

Here is the deal - I know you probably won't believe me, but it is the truth.

DO NOT SUBMIT.

The SE will find you on their own. Inktomi penalizes you for submitting. Google will not list you unless other sites are linking to you and in that case they will find you on their own.

I haven't submitted to any SE in over a year - trust me - I have VERY GOOD listings.

I can tell you that google will NOT care or take any points of if you do submit, so if it makes you feel better - feel free to submit to them.

However, if YOU DO SUBMIT TO GOOGLE - they WILL CRAWL YOUR SITE. Why is this bad? Because you still will not get listed if there are not other sites linking to you.

IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT to Google - and they crawl your site - you then will know that you are in.

Search Engines do not work the way they used to. 99% of the info out their on Search Engines is outdated or just plain wrong.

Chris - I don't mean to sound too skeptical and I haven't been doing this for a very long time but I find it very hard to believe that your would be better off not submitting at all? Anyone else have any feed back regarding Chris's method? Thanks, Charlie

It depends on the engine, some deep crawl and some don't. I know for a fact that pages that I don't submit to google tend to get higher rankings than pages that I do submit.

As for the submitting process, SUBMIT BY HAND

About your question if there's a site with optimization guidelines, umm... SE's have different algorithms so you can choose to optimize for a specific engine or just "optimize in general".
If you don't know how to optimize for a specific engine than
just make sure you have a good h1 heading, text spider food at the top of your page, alt tags with keyphrases, etc

The other stuff you gotta learn on your own!

i get a few 10k's of se hits, i never submitted, but actually, i am not very impressed by the quality. i do better on toplist traffic. (se traffic is mainly from google).
