decent camera

anyone have any sugestions on a decent camera to buy.. I wouldn't mind a canon eos 10d but by the time you buy lens an so on your around 2k I really don't want to spend that much.

I'm not looking to shoot full time or anything but would like a decent camera that would work well, with out spending a bank. How are the cheaper canon cameras such as the PowerShot Pro1 or the EOS-300D compared to the eos 10d?

I've looked but e-bay is getting pretty useless these days, only thing I've found is vendors selling new cameras

I bought an 10D off ebay - got a great deal on it and it works perfectly. There are a lot of vendors selling new cams, but if you keep your eyes peeled, you'll find some used ones. You can't go wrong with the 10D - it's a supurb camera. You can shoot it on automatic or take control of all the functions.

yea I'm going to keep watching e-bay but I was also reading a few sites and it seems the EOS-300D is preaty much the same camera as the 10D. Looks like there are also quite a few hacks to upgrade it to allmost be the same as a 10D..

Anyone know anybody that's done this? it would cut about $500 off the price tag.
