I don't buy console games anymore (still feeling the sting of the TurboGrafx 16 and its cutting edge cdrom). A UT server for the GFY gang would be pretty cool...

I don't have an xbox but maybe I'd buy one for this -- sounds really cool....... what are some of the best games for this? does the xbox have a modem? how does this work....?

I am definately in. I have Project Gotham Racing, Max Payne, Nascar Racing, Halo, Surfing, NFL Fever, and a few others. I like Project Gotham and Max Payne the best.

I buy every console eventually...but I don't play that often...I'm more of a game collector, especially the late eighties stuff.

Have you seen http://www.xgaming.com I bet you would be interested in it. It is basically an arcade console that plugs into your PC, Xbox, PlayStation II, etc.....

I want to create an xbox gameserver and only allow adult webmasters in...

Also, the gaming server wont be ready for a while. All you can do is connect 4 Xboxs right now. You can't connect them over the Internet right now. You could try, but I do not know how far you would get.

Well first off...I have software that would allow me to turn a linux server into an xbox server...

you would then have to connect your xbox to your 'puter via a second nic and a crossover cable or a switch/router.

You'd then install some tunnel software on your computer...log into the gameserver...with would pretty much be a chatroom and games would be coordinated via the chat...I figured we could talk business have deathmatches with content, services, design, etc. as prizes...it could be a place (if there were enough users) that people could do some networking advert their programs...goof off...I dunno...basically I'm just trying to justify getting a hot shit gameserver into our cage..

.heheh...i'm only kidding if you're reading this boss...ahem

I'm still in the beginning processes...getting the server stable...fast and working out bugs...but it could be really cool...especially if it was a place that a frustrated webmaster could go to rape some newbies, frag some big boys...

the xbox comes with a 10/100 nic card in it and is ready for broadband use...halo would be the shit, for those of you who have played you know your shots are creamy just thinking about the mayhem that could be a 32 person death match...microshit will have a service eventually but I imagine it will be a pay service...so this could be kinda cool...

still looking for input...I figure I need at least 30 people who'd be initially interested to get it going. I figure word of mouth might get it going after that...

I do want to avoid the immature mentality that would come if it were open to the general public...we've got enough of that...hehehe

Its already been done...check out gamespy...I was gaming online with my xbox about 2.5 months ago...
