Router problem, laptop not being recognized

i have my laptop and desktop connected to the net via a router which works fine but now i need to do some port forwarding and for that my router admin menu asks me which pc needs the forwarding. I have to setup the pc name + ip first in a seperate menu but it just wont recognize my laptop.

    Any idea?

You need port fw'ing for a specific IP? The router should tell you how the DHCP assigned the IPs. Just forward the ports to the IP, and restart your laptop.

Yes to my own ip but since i cant set it in the router admin the forward is going nowhere.

I need to assign the ips to a computer. Either my laptop or desktop but it simply wont recognize them.

DHCP Clients are automatically added and updated.
If not listed, try restarting the PC.
PCs using a Fixed IP address can be added and deleted below.

Since nothing is automatically added im trying to manually add the ip and name but it keeps saying pc cannot be found.
