Theft

I been thinking lately about theft. For the most part everyone is against it yet it shocks me how many people seem to either turn a blind eye to it or endorse it in some form.

I am not talking about shaving or sponsors not paying which naturally always gets webmasters panties into a bunch. I am talking about content theft in general.

One company may call out someone for stealing their licensed or copyrighted material, yet in the banners right above that thread they may have their own flash banner with copyrighted music playing in it. This makes next to no sense with me at all.

I do know if everyone paid for everything we would have some rich ass providers around but alas we know how well off most of them are.

So how can we as an industry say one type of theft is ok and another is not?

There are people making more money than I am personally from stealing our content. Either via web or credit card fraud.

The punks could not make it straight up.

Give me a pistol and an opportunity - I would probably think about taking advantage.


I have dealt in business for many years. Some of the most professional people I have ever been privy to deal with are in the adult industry. But their is a portion that is scum. Rock bottom scum. And there are other that will say 'Yah - but everyone else is doing it'. So I guess this is right until you face the damage or consequences. No regard for integrity - or possible consequences.

This comes from everywhere - not just east europe and other obvious countries. But this will be your predominant fuckers.

When you are dealing with adult content production you have to worry about things like background music, posters on the wall, images on t-shirts (Pooh? or Big Bird? - don't ask for it).

What ever happened to honor. I would be happy with 'honor among theives' if that's the way you wanted to look at it.

We spend a lot of time and money on things we could steal easily. Or paying attention to that aspect.

But you are correct - many turn a blind eye when thinking about other things. Which is hypocrital - honestly.

Unfortunatly when people see a way of getting something for free with 0% chance of any concequences or pay over inflated prices for the same thing pointlessly, only a mug pays

well, it's not quite the sme thing.
because banners are used to make money, but someone that shares music on kazza doesn't make any money.
