    Proper Tech Support Etiquette?

When I sent a request to tech support via a e-mail ticket sytem and they reply back to me that it's been completed, should I reply with a thank you?

I usually don't because this creates another unneccessary ticket in the system and I figure reading and deleting this e-mail is a waste of time for them.

What do you think? Am I being rude? Should I send off a quick thank you after every tech support issue that is resolved?

Rictor this is a very valid issue, I'm glad you brought it up.

While it is nice to say "thank you", the tech support might not give a toss about it if they have hundreds of emails to check. I run CybeHost, sometimes people reply with "thanks etc.." and I think "that's nice they took the time to email me back, I will send them some cookies etc..".

          Don't worry, we understand.

It's your call, we always feel bad closing a "thank you ticket" w/o a reply, because it then kicks you an autoresponse saying the ticket has been completed.

So basically as far as us, we don't care either way. Whichever you prefer. Not saying thank you does not make us think you're being rude by any stretch of the imagination.

If it's just an email they're just going to look at and delete I don't bother sending it

you can take the time to thank them, they deserve it.

besides, they hope the ticket is just that anyway and not some stupid question

Okay, cool. I deal with 5 of the bigger hosting companies right now and have tech support issues daily, so I thought it was a valid question.

I believe in being polite as long as it's not a time waster. :P

After trying 5 different hosts, I found the best.
Since 1997 I've had 2 hours of downtime.
Fast support, great techs, no hype, no gimmicks.

<- I in no way endorse whatever just got stuck on the left of my post.
