    webalizer

    Can anybody reccomend a web stats program that I can run on my server that gives me detailed reports better then webalizer? Im interested in referrers but webalizer mixes in your own pages.. so thats annoying.

    Can you either reccomend something or tell me what you use?

    Thanks!

              How long does that take to generate a report from a nice fat logfile? Is it as fast as webalizer?

                      My logs are huge and awstats flushes them quite quickly.

                        Hey, thanks for the replies. I downloaded awstats and now I have a dumb question if you guys dont mind. I have never setup a program like this on my server so I know this is probably dumb to most of you, but anyway...

                        How do I install it? I read the installation files and im lost from the get-go. Heres what it says;

                        A) With Apache or compatible server (on Unix/Linux, Windows, MacOS...)

                        * Step 1-1:
                        (if you use a package provided with a Linux distribution or Windows installer, this might be already done, however it is recommanded to do it)

                        After downloading and running the AWStats package, you must run the configure.pl script. You will find it in the tools directory (If using the windows installer, the script is automatically launched):
                        perl configure.pl

                        Am I suppose to upload this file and try and execute it on the server?? Or do I install it on the hard drive then upload all the files? I dont have a perl thing on my hard drive so I dont understand how the configure.pl script could run and automate this proccess while still on my hard drive.

                        Thanks!

                          I am in love with Urchin .. but I can't recommend it based on the price. I use it because my web host offers a 100 profile license for free.. otherwise I could never justify paying for it.

                          .. but if you can afford it .. I do recommend it.
